Police were searching Lancaster County Central Park for two males suspected of abducting a woman in the city Tuesday morning. The 33-year-old county woman reported being abducted by strangers somewhere in the city at around 8:45 a.m. and then driven to county park, city police Lt. Todd Umstead said. Police are still trying to figure out exactly where the alleged abduction happened. "She was actually communicating with county dispatch via cellphone" during the incident, Umstead said. "Based on their communications, they knew she was very likely in the county park." Police located the woman in the trunk of the car she was allegedly abducted in shortly after 9 a.m., Umstead said. The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
"Our main concern was getting her treated," he said. Umstead did not immediately know where in the park the car was found. A few dozen police officers from area departments were searching the park, along with a state police helicopter, two city police horses, bloodhounds from Red Rose Search and Rescue, and members of the county sheriff's office, Umstead said. "Right now, pretty much the whole park is being searched," he said at 11 a.m.
All the entrances to the park were closed. Umstead said police did not know if the suspects were armed. One suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with thin, black, shoulder-length hair, Umstead said. He wore a black shirt and gray sweat pants. The other suspect was a black male, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a "bald fade." He wore a white T-shirt and black work pants.
