Look at what Kathleen Schurman does: she and her husband own Locket's Meadow, which is a rehabilitation farm for horses and animals that were headed to the slaughterhouse. After Kathleen and her staff nurse these animals back to health, she allows for the horses to be adopted, or puts them to work with special needs patients who could benefit from some therapeutic riding lessons. She acquires these horses through auction and pays by the pound... so she and her husband spend literally thousands of dollars each year to rescue these horses and nurse them back to health. Locket's Meadow also houses pigs, chicken, sheep, cows, etc. Check out what Badass Chick Kathleen and her husband are doing to help these animals!
